HEAD COACH: ROBIN HAMREN

Robin Hamren returns to the Pep Squad staff for the fourth year. Robin has been a part of Tesoro High School since it first opened its doors in the fall of 2001. She has been involved with the athletic programs, including football, baseball, and pep squad.  Robin is a graduate of UCSB and later received her teaching credential from UCI. A credentialed teacher, Robin brings 15 years of teaching experience plus 10 years of administrative experience to the program. She has been involved with both competitive and school cheerleading for over 15 years. Robin is AACCA Safety Certified as well as being certified as a Level 1 NFHS Interscholastic Coach. 

She has a passion for Tesoro and has enjoyed watching the school evolve from a 'vision' into 'reality'.  Her goal for the 2011-2012 season is to continue Pep Squad's strong tradition of school spirit and leadership on campus, while further uniting the cheer and song teams into a strong integrated program. Robin believes that Pep Squad offers hands on opportunities for learning life skills such as organization, communication and teamwork. She looks forward to working with her amazing coaches and the supportive staff at Tesoro High School.

VARSITY/JV CHEER: JASON VACA

Jason is returning for his 2nd year as the Varsity and JV Cheer Coach. He has 6 years of experience in the competitive world of cheerleading, as well as 3 years in the competitive world of dance. He has won numerous 1st place titles at Regional, State and Nationals levels for Junior High, High School and All Star Cheer and Dance teams. Jason cheered for Mater Dei High School on the Varsity Co-Ed cheer team for 3 years. He was appointed captain his senior year and while captain he led his team to an undefeated season.  He has also competed on all star teams such as Epic Cheer All Stars and Stealth All Stars.  

Jason has worked with USSpiritleaders as an instructor at their Cheer and Dance summer camps. Additionally, he has coached Saint Barbara School's cheer teams as well as taught at Dance Precisions, West Coast School of the Arts and Apex All Stars. Jason is AACCA safety certified. He enjoys expressing his creativity through his choreography as well as editing his own music.  He's edited music for the LA Clipper Girls, Long Beach State Dance team and various high schools.

Jason attends Irvine Valley College and hopes to transfer to a UC, majoring in Biology.  He is passionate about teaching and is dedicated to bringing out the best in his teams. Jason is excited to be a part of the Tesoro Pep Squad coaching staff and is looking forward to another rewarding and successful year.

 

 VARSITY/JV SONG: DANIELLE CALTA

Danielle returns for her 3rd year at Tesoro as the Varsity and JV Song Coach. She is an experienced coach, dance teacher and choreographer. She has been dancing for 25 years and has studied in all styles of dance. When she was 13 years old, she was chosen as a member of the Tremaine Dance Company where she trained with many world renowned choreographers in the entertainment industry. She had the opportunity to dance for various live events, videos, the movie Austin Powers, and the Royal Danish Ballet. Upon graduating from high school, she took over as the Songleading Head Coach at Mater Dei High School. Under her guidance they won many national titles and awards including Best Choreography, Best Technical, and Grand Champions. During this period she was also a member of the United Spirit Association where she served as a Head Instructor and a member of their Program Development staff. She is a graduate from UC Irvine and was the captain of their dance team for 3 years.

Danielle worked at one of the top dance/choreography talent agencies in Hollywood, McDonald Selznick Associates. MSA represents some of the most talented working stage directors/choreographers in the business. Their clients have worked on some of the largest world tours, films, television, commercials, and live events such as Michael Jackson’s This Is It film, Britney Spears’ Circus Tour, American Idol, the High School Musical franchise, and of course So You Think You Can Dance?!

She has coached & choreographed for teams throughout the US including high school, college, semi-pro, and pro teams such as the San Diego Charger Girls,  OC Gladiators and most recently the 49ers. Currently she teaches pom and dance technique classes at OC All-Stars.  She is looking forward to another successful year at Tesoro High School!
