HEAD COACH: ROBIN HAMREN
Robin Hamren will be returning to the staff for the second year and will be overseeing the Pep Squad program. Robin has been a part of Tesoro High School since it first opened its doors in the fall of 2001. She has been involved with the athletic programs, including football, baseball, and pep squad.  Robin is a graduate of UCSB and received her teaching credential from UCI. A credentialed teacher, Robin brings 15 years of teaching experience plus 10 years of administrative experience to the program. She has a passion for Tesoro and has enjoyed watching the school evolve from a 'vision' into 'reality'.  Her goal for the 2009-2010 season is to continue Pep Squad's strong tradition of school spirit and leadership on campus, while uniting the cheer and song teams into a strong integrated program. Robin believes that Pep Squad offers hands on opportunities for learning life skills such as organization, communication and teamwork. She is excited to be a part of the 2009-2010 season and looks forward to working with the amazing coaching staff.

VARSITY CHEER COACH: RANDY BRYANT
Randy has over 20 years of experience in the cheerleading world.  His experience includes virtually every aspect of cheerleading including participation, coaching and administration.  He is a former college cheerleader at the University of New Mexico where he received his bachelors degree in Physical Education and also holds a masters degree in Sports Administration from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, AL.  He has held high level positions at companies such as the International Cheerleading Foundation, NCA and CHEERSPORT.  Over the past 20 years he has held coaching positions at virtually every level of cheerleading including middle school, high school, college and all-star coaching them to numerous local, state and national champioships.  The national experience he has gained over the past 20 years have enabled him to become one of the most knowledgable and experienced coaches anywhere.  He has spoken at coaches conferences all across the United States and has written books and magazine articles relating to goal setting, overcoming fear in sports and tumbling progressions.  Prior to his involvement in cheerleading, Randy excelled in track and field as a pole vaulter and pole vault coach and is currently coaching the Tesoro pole vaulters. He has coached numerous pole vaulters to conference, state and national championships and had the honor of having one of his athlete's qualify for the '92 and '96 Olympic Games representing Australia. Randy joined the Tesoro Pep Squad last October as the Freshman coach. This season he will continue working with the Freshman Cheer team as well as coaching the Varsity Cheer Squad.  

JV/FRESHMAN CHEER COACH: HEATHER BEYER
Heather has been in the world of competitive cheer/dance since she was in 7th grade. She started out on a competitive dance/drill team in junior high and then moved to cheerleading in high school. Heather has lots of experience balancing cheer and academics. She was born and raised in the OC and attended Woodbridge High School where she earned the honor of scholar athlete while cheering for their varsity squad. She then attended Saddleback College where she was the captain of their cheer squad for 3 of her 4 semesters, during which time she was on the dean’s list. After finishing her general education at Saddleback she transferred to Long Beach State.  This fall she will be receiving her Bachelor’s in Journalism with a minor in Communications. Heather has competed on the Magic All-Stars open level co-ed competition team. She coached for several years at Newport Harbor High School. Her first year coaching was also her team’s first year competing. She took the advanced JV team at Newport Harbor High School to competitions placing first at multiple regional competitions and placed 6th at nationals. She worked her way up to head coach and has since taken 5 teams/stunt groups to nationals. Heather was also a member of the 2007 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Strike Force. Heather is delighted to join the Tesoro Pep Squad staff.

VARISTY/JV SONG COACH: DANIELLE CALTA
Danielle has been dancing for 25 years. She has studied in all styles of dance. When she was 13 years old, she was chosen as a member of the Tremaine Dance Company where she trained with many world renowned choreographers in the enterainment business. She had the opportunity to dance for various live events, videos, and the movie Austin Powers. In High School, Danielle was a member of Mater Dei's Songleading team where she served as captain. Upon graduating from Mater Dei, she took over as the Songleading coach and continued to run the program for 10 years, winning many national titles and awards! During this period she was also a member of the United Spirit Association where she served as a head instructor and a member of their program development staff. She is a graduate from UC Irvine and was the captain of their dance team for 3 years. She has coached and choreographed for teams throughout the US including high school, college, semi-pro and pro teams, including the San Diego Charger Girls. For the past year she has worked at one of the top dance and choreography talent agencies in Hollywood, MSA, representing some of the most talented working choreographers in the business such as Mia Michaels, Wade Robson and Jamie King. She currently judges both regional and national competitions for USA and US Spiritleaders. Danielle is thrilled to be the Songleading Coach for Tesoro and is looking forward to a successful and rewarding season!

VARSITY/JV ASSISTANT SONG COACH: JASON VACA
Jason Vaca has 5 years of experience in the competitive world of cheerleading as well as 3 years experience in the competitive world of dance. He cheered for Mater Dei High School Varsity Co-ed cheer team for 3 years, and was appointed captain his senior year and led his team to an undefeated season. Jason’s cheer career didn’t stop there. He went onto compete on All Star teams such as Cheer Empire All Stars, Epic Cheer All Stars, and Stealth All Stars. During high school, he discovered a passion for songleading which lead him to pursue a career in dance. His senior year and freshman year of college he assisted head coach, Danielle Calta, with their high school’s song team. Shortly after that Jason began to work at the renowned dance studio West Coast School of the Arts as a Song/Pom Technique Instructor for various high schools. He was asked to direct, coach, and choreograph their first ever All Star dance teams. West Coast School of the Arts was undefeated throughout the season and was awarded a paid bid to the Dance Worlds in Orlando, Florida under Jason’s direction. During this time he was coaching Saint Barbara School’s cheer team and is still currently coaching there. Jason also serves as a staff member for U.S. Spiritleaders and an instructor for their cheer and dance summer camps. He has won numerous has won numerous 1st place titles at Regional, State and National levels for junior high, high school, and all star cheer and dance. Jason currently attends Orange Coast College and hopes to transfer to UCI as a medical student. Through his passion and dedication to teaching Jason is excited to be a part of the Tesoro Pep Squad coaching staff and is looking forward to a successful and rewarding year.
